The VeloElite Carbon Gravel Wheel Range, how do they stack up against ENVE?

Gravel riding has changed dramatically over the last few years.

What was once about simply finding a bike and heading off-road has evolved into a highly competitive discipline, with riders looking for every possible advantage — from aerodynamic frames and lightweight components to wider tyres and increasingly sophisticated carbon wheelsets.

At VeloElite, we wanted to create a range of gravel wheels that delivered the performance characteristics riders expect from the premium end of the market, while keeping the price more accessible.

The result is our new VeloElite Carbon Gravel Wheel range, featuring two distinct wheelsets designed for different types of gravel riding.

VeloElite Carbon 45 — Lightweight Gravel Racing

At just 1,470g, the VeloElite Carbon 45 is designed for riders who prioritise low weight, acceleration and climbing performance.

The 45mm-deep carbon rim provides an aerodynamic advantage without adding unnecessary weight, while the 30mm internal rim width creates a wide and stable platform for modern gravel tyres.

The wheelset is designed around 40–60mm tyres and is fully tubeless compatible, making it equally suited to fast gravel races, long-distance events and mixed-surface riding.

At the centre of the wheelset are OGS Superlight hubs, helping us achieve the low overall weight while maintaining a performance-focused specification.

VeloElite Carbon 60 — Deep-Section Gravel Speed

For riders who want to maximise speed on fast gravel courses, the VeloElite Carbon 60 takes things a step further.

With a 60mm-deep carbon rim, this wheelset is designed to carry speed and provide an aerodynamic advantage on faster, more open terrain.

Despite its substantial rim depth, the complete wheelset weighs just 1,585g.

The 60mm rim is paired with a huge 36mm internal width, creating a stable platform for 45–60mm gravel tyres. This combination gives riders the option to run the larger tyres increasingly popular in modern gravel racing while maintaining the benefits of a deep-section wheel.

Once again, OGS Superlight hubs keep the specification focused on performance without unnecessary weight.

How Do They Compare With ENVE?

When developing the new range, we wanted to see how our specifications compared with some of the established premium gravel wheelsets.

ENVE’s G SES 4.5 Pro and G SES 6.7 Pro provide an interesting benchmark.

The VeloElite Carbon 45 weighs 1,470g, compared with 1,480g for the G SES 4.5 Pro. Both feature a 30mm internal rim width, while the VeloElite uses a 45mm-deep rim.

Moving to the deeper wheels, the VeloElite Carbon 60 weighs 1,585g, just 5g more than the 1,580g published weight of the G SES 6.7 Pro. The VeloElite also features a 36mm internal width, compared with 35mm for the ENVE.
