Why handbuilt wheels?

All VeloElite wheels are hand built to the highest possible tolerances, we strongly believe that a hand built wheel gives a more refined and better built wheel.
But why are they better?

A handbuilt wheel is made bespoke for the rider taking into account the riders weight and riding style this will help us determine the correct spoke tension and the grade of the spoke itself. The spokes are key to a well built wheel, because the components of each VeloElite wheel are hand selected this means we get a perfect spoke length for each wheelset. Lots of wheels will suffer broken/snapped spokes , this is normally down to poor spoke lengths during the build process, we make sure the spoke length is optimal.

The tensioning of the spoke is key to the ride characteristics of the wheel, we build each wheelset to the riders weight therefore ensuring the correct tension and making the wheel ride better than a standard machine built wheels- a 60kg rider will require a different spoke tension to a 90kg rider.

With all this in mind a hand built wheel should last longer , stay truer and also perform better.
